Favorite books/movies?
I collect Harry Potter books in different languages and editions and have my own annotated copies of 1-7.
Hobbies/hidden talents?
I am trilingual (English, Spanish, and ASL).
Childhood jobs?
My first (and probably favorite) job I ever had was working at a snow cone shack as a teenager. Favorite flavor? POG.
If you could study any random thing other than HDFS/MFT, what would it be? Birds? Architecture? Space?
I would study the history of fiber and hand arts from Scandinavia.
What advice would you offer to someone thinking about graduate school?
Quoting Shia LaBeouf, “Just, DO IT!”. It took me a long time to accept that I was smart enough to go to graduate school. The best part though, is embracing how much I don’t know and being inspired and taught by those who know so much about the field. So, if you’re on the fence or you feel like you won’t fit in, that’s okay. Everyone comes from different backgrounds and we’re all here to learn, so come as you are, but don’t expect to stay as you are.
