NEPAL

Exploring Global Perspectives of the Human Sciences in Nepal

This program aims to introduce and familiarize students with a culture that is distinctly different from their own by spending a month traveling through Nepal experiencing the bustling city of Kathmandu, the lakeside district in Pokhara, and the jungles of the Chitwan region. Students will interact with various Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s), participate in community development initiatives, experience tourism in a developing country, and become true global citizens.

Why Nepal?

This experience will help students understand global perspectives in human sciences, broaden their world view, develop a sense of well-being, engage with local culture, and learn to see the world through a different lens. At the trip's conclusion, students will understand and appreciate cultural diversity, develop awareness about global issues, and improve their global competence. This program will include extensive walking, time spent in high altitudes, lots of rides on buses and in cars in mountainous terrain. Some activities will involve physical labor, and some accommodations involve camping in tents. In addition to this, dietary issues should be noted, because food options for highly specialized diets are limited in Nepal.
